Established in 2022, the Department of Commerce is in the self-financing stream with three different programmes in Commerce. Our Department provides Bachelors of Commerce (B.Com) Program specializing in relevant areas like B.com Model I Finance and Taxation, Model II Finance and Taxation and Model II Computer Application, the most thriving courses in the field of Commerce education. In 2024, our department transitioned from the Choice Based Credit and Semester System (CBCSS) to the Four-Year Undergraduate (Honours) Program. We proudly offer three specialized under graduate programs Finance and Taxation, Logistics and Accounting. It helps the students to gain theoretical and practical skills needed to deal with real-life business situations and transform themselves into young entrepreneurs in this fast-changing innovative world. The course also enhances students with skills and knowledge in verbal and interpersonal communication, critical thinking, time management, and problem-solving skills.

Scope
A career in commerce offers immense growth as demand for professionals is always high. Job opportunities exist right after the programme. Jobs for B.Com graduates exist in India as well as abroad. After completion of B.Com, a graduate can apply for Government Sector jobs as well as private sector job. In addition to that, commerce graduates are competent to apply for accounting related jobs in India and abroad. One must know areas like Basic Principles of Accountancy, Cost Accounting and Management Accounting to be an accountant. Other than being an accountant, there are many career options in this field.

1. B.Com Honours - Finance and Taxation
Bachelor of Commerce with specialisation in Taxation and Finance primarily focuses on enhancing the student’s practical knowledge of the global financial environment and thereby delivering qualified and skilled finance professionals to the world of business. An emerging economy like India needs finance professionals who are trained to be competent to address the needs of the world of business through proper financial planning and strategic management. Therefore, this programme focuses on developing the skills to find business solutions through critical thinking which will help students to explore the endless opportunities available in the financial sector. A qualified professional in Taxation and Finance would be responsible for developing and managing the financial plans of an organization and could potentially contribute to the economic planning of the country.
The programme focuses primarily on the systematic study of the concepts in the specialized subjects and topics related to the fields of taxation and covers all types of taxes, including Goods and Service Tax, Income Tax, Sales Tax, VAT Service Tax, Property Tax, etc. as well as taxation laws and regulations. This programme also includes a general course study in Commerce. Additionally, the course aids in the development of expertise in areas like financial management, including budgeting and financial planning.
2. B.Com Honours - Logistics
Our BCom Logistics program equips students with the skills and knowledge to navigate the complex world of supply chain management, preparing them for successful careers in logistics .Our BCom Logistics program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles and practices of logistics and supply chain management. Through a combination of theoretical foundations and practical applications, students will gain the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in this rapidly evolving field. From supply chain optimization to transportation management, our program covers the full spectrum of logistics operations, preparing graduates for rewarding careers in logistics, transportation, and related industries.
3. B.Com Honours - Accounting
Our B. Com Accounting program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in accounting principles, practices, and technologies. Through a combination of theoretical foundations and practical applications, students will gain a deep understanding of financial accounting, management accounting, taxation, and auditing. Our expert faculty and industry partners work together to ensure that our program stays up-to-date with the latest developments in the field, giving our graduates a competitive edge in the job market.

The Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) in B.Com is a multidisciplinary course that provides students with a broad understanding of commerce and related fields. The program also helps students develop practical skills and communication skills.The FYUGP prepares students for careers in accounting, auditing, finance, HR, marketing, management, banking, and more. It also prepares students for careers in tourism, hospitality, health care, and corporate law.
